• The future very literally belongs to Africans, it’s time we told our own stories of what that future should and could look and feel like

What is The Afrofutures showcase?

• Will take place on TBC
• Online showcase and awards ceremony of the top Story submissions of the year, media and celebrities invited

What is a Afrofutures Story?

• A creative oral story recorded  in voice note or video no more than 3 minutes long about Africa in the year 2050 
• – science fiction and fantasy encouraged, figurative over literal, speak from the heart

• Stories can be in any language but for publication purposes these may be translated to English.

How to submit an Afriutures story?

• Send video / voicenote in MP3/MP4 format to whatsapp channel [tbc] OR Google Form

What is a Storytelling Chapter?

• A meetup with 6 to 10 people where hosts record stories live and thereafter submit them all to the Afrofutures project for consideration in the awards showcase
• Each Chapter meeting lasts approximately 2 hours
• Host is to ensure that the recording is clear and easy to understand and hear. Should it be necessary a transcript may be requested. 

Who is a Storytelling Chapter host?

• Hosts a Chapter
• Records and submits Story entries 

Storytelling chapter hosts requirements 

• Must live in Africa
• Must be passionate about Africa’s future and people and prosperity
• Must be sociable and a friendly host (facilitation or dramatic experience encouraged – as is a network within the media / education/ creative arts world)
• Must be able to host a Storytelling Chapter session once a year at least
• Must find a suitable venue for a Storytelling Chapter session, suitable venues are
  • Quiet
  • Private
  • Have comfy seating for at least 6 people
